From the Field!

In this section you will find two interviews with Peruvian anthropologists. One working for the government and one working on development and environmental projects.

In these interviews we explore how they think about Inteculturalidad and Buen Vivir and how these concepts are used in their workfields.

The interviews are in Spanish, but you will find a document with the translation in English.

"I prefer to talk about local knowledge more than traditional knowledge"

Fiorella Miñan has been working in development and environmental projects for over ten years. In this interview she gives us her perspective on how Interculturalidad is taken into account into the development sector and what space is given for indigenous knowledge.

"Interculturalidad should be about questioning power relations, instead of just recognizing cultural diversity"

Tilsa Ponce Romero did a PhD in Anthropology before and has been working after that within the public sector in Peru. Currently, she is working in the ministry of development and social inclusion. In this interview, she talks about how the notion of interculturalidad is used by the Peruvian state and about what challenges this brings.
